Frequently Asked Questions
- How is Xeripave kept clean?
A. Xeripave is an effective filter and requires contaminants to be removed periodically. Frequency of cleaning depends on the contaminant profile of the area and the frequency of rain events. In most applications pressure washing with mechanical vacuum will address any clogging.
- How Permeable is Xeripavepave?
A. Xeripave Pavers have a flow through rate of over 1 gallon per second per square foot depending on the type and size of stone.
- How strong is Xeripave?
A. The matrix contains approximately 39% void space so it offers less strength than a solid composite, but it adequately provides the necessary strength for its intended applications. It is similar to porous concrete, and therefore current standard test methods for concrete or brick pavers are not applicable. The pavers offer an extremely high permeability rate and sufficient strength for low traffic / low speed areas.
- Can Xeripave be used in conjunction with traditional paving products?
A. In many situations this is ideal, such as in large paved areas like parking lots. Xeripave Pavers or Stormwater Grates are best laid in strips where stormwater is likely to collect. The high porosity of Xeripave allows the user to cover only a small portion of the total surface, roughly 15%, and still fully address stormwater capture.
- How durable is Xeripave?
- Pavers comply with ASTM freeze / thaw requirements, they are unaffected by salt, they are unaffected by UV and are considered inert.
